Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day has its roots in the labor movement of the late 19th century. The idea for a day to recognize the labor movement and the achievements of workers was first proposed by Peter J. McGuire

Zucchini, Tomato and Corn Fettuccine with Walnuts and Feta

It’s a beautiful moment when you visit the farmer’s market in the summer and all the vegetables and fruits are bright and bountiful and you just know your chances of getting sweet, fresh produce is far better than say, the end of February. Sometimes I forget how produce is supposed to taste until sunny July rolls around and my taste buds are like, “HEYOOOO TOMATOES.” As I stroll through the bustling farmer’s market, the aroma of freshly picked produce fills my senses. The vibrant colors of the fruits and vegetables catch my eye, and I can’t resist the urge to purchase a basket of juicy strawberries. The vendors are friendly and eager to share their knowledge about their products, telling me about the sustainable farming practices they use to grow their produce. I love the feeling of supporting local farmers and knowing exactly where my food comes from. It’s not just a shopping trip, it’s an experience that connects me to my community and the land. This recipe celebrates summer produce. If you try this recipe in February, I hope you live in Australia. Indonesian Food Bazaar

I arrived in Astoria, New York, feeling excited and eager to explore the Indonesian food bazaar that I had heard so much about. The aroma of sizzling spices and fragrant herbs wafted through the air, and my mouth watered at the thought of all the delicious food that awaited me. I’ve been told to check this thing out for the longest, and I finally had the chance to!

The Only Pancake Recipe You Will Ever Need

I have always had a special place in my heart (and stomach) for pancakes. There’s something about the soft, fluffy texture and the warm, comforting aroma that just makes me feel happy and contented.

As a child, my favorite breakfast was always a stack of pancakes, piled high with butter and syrup. My parents used to make them for me on special occasions, and I would savor every bite, sopping up the syrup with each fluffy forkful.

Indulge Your Sweet Tooth: Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Strawberries

As a home cook, nothing brings greater joy than nailing a first-time recipe. That’s exactly what happened with this pound cake dessert that I recently tried out! It’s a versatile dessert in the sense that it can be eaten on its own – I even had a slice for breakfast the next day – or paired with different toppings to add more flavor and texture. I served it recently with fresh strawberries, which I had tossed with a little bit of white sugar to bring out their natural sweetness and juices, and then topped everything off with whipped cream.

A Spin on a Classic: Crispy Lemon Cookie Sandwiches

I woke up this morning with a sudden craving for something sweet and tangy. As I lay in bed, my mind wandered to the delicious lemon cookies that I had tasted at a party last weekend. They were the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, with a crumbly texture that melted in my mouth.

One Minute, One Mug, One Brownie

Who doesn’t ever want a brownie? I mean, I can eat them at anytime. No joke! Did you ever REALLY want one, but the thought of baking up a whole batch is just exhausting? Store bought ones can be hit or miss, and sometimes, you just don’t want to get up and drive to the store either. Plus baking a whole batch, you don’t want the temptation of a huge plate of brownies, begging you to eat the entire lot? Ya, as much as I’d love brownies, I couldn’t in good conscience eat that many in one sitting.

Caesar Salad with homemade croutons

The salad is named after its creator, Caesar Cardini, an Italian-American restaurateur. According to legend, if you want to believe in that, Caesar Cardini invented the salad in 1924 in Tijuana, Mexico – of all places! At the time, Cardini owned a restaurant in Tijuana that was popular with American tourists looking to enjoy a night out during Prohibition. One busy Fourth of July weekend, Cardini’s restaurant was running low on supplies, so he threw together a salad using ingredients he had on hand. The salad was a hit with customers, and Cardini continued to serve it at his restaurant.
